Doom Bar Bitter.
Doom Bar Bitter is named after an infamous sandbank at the mouth of the Camel Estuary in north Cornwall. The Doom bar is at its most dangerous between low and high tides when it is submerged by just a few feet. Unsuspecting mariners can easily become stranded or in extreme weather shipwrecked.
Doom Bar Bitter embodies many characteristics which makes it worthy to carry the name of this natural wonder. It's distinctive aroma and very fine balance sets it truly apart from other beers taking unsuspecting first time drinkers by surprise with its moreish appeal. Doom Bar has achieved an international cult status, is considered one of the fastest growing beer brands in the UK and is the best selling locally produced beer in the entire South West region

Indian Pale Ale (IPA)
Indian Pale Ale (IPA) was first brewed in the 19th Century. Naturally preserved by high alcohol and strong hops the beer was well set to survive the long and hot journey under sail to India.
With Atlantic IPA Sharp's Brewery has taken the essence of the original IPA and modernised it to create a crisp beer with a superb dry finish and a light golden colour. As a brewery sitting on Cornwall's Atlantic coast the naming of this beer came naturally.
The RNLI's commitment to saving lives at sea is legendary and to support this cause, a proportion of all Atlantic IPA sales will be donated to the RNL Other ales include Skinners (based in Truro) and St Austell brewery ales. If you are not sure which one is for you, we are happy to offer you a taster to help you decide! |

Sharps Eden.
The Eden Project was set up in Cornwall to promote the understanding and responsible management of the vital relationship between plants, people and resources leading to a sustainable future for all.
At Sharp's we are committed to making great beer with the least possible impact on our environment. Eden Pure Ale was developed in conjunction with the Eden Project in order to prove that a natural beer brewed in conscience with the environment can taste so much better than the multitude of mass produced factory beers which these days crowd our public bars and supermarket shelves.

Special.
Special is the sweetest and most alcoholic of all the range. The sweetness complements most deserts and most especially those with a good measure of sugar such as treacle puddings and stewed fruits. The sweet roasted aroma also make Special perfect with creamy and rich cheeses.

With the exhaustion of the mining industry Cornwall's fishing fleet now keeps this bold tradition of commercial seafaring alive albeit bound by fishing quota red tape. Cornish Coaster pays tribute to all those down the centuries who have bravely plied their trade around Cornwall's rugged coastline.

Champion Best Bitter of Great Britain.
A Cornish brewery has celebrated its biggest-ever competitive triumph with a return to London to collect its award at another famous venue.
In August, Truro-based Skinners Brewery chalked up a Cornish first when its Betty Stogs won the Champion Best Bitter of Great Britain award in the 2008 Great British Beer Festival at Earl’s Court.
The happy sequel saw a party of Skinners representatives, including the real-life “Betty”, attend CAMRA’s annual awards lunch at Lord’s, the home of cricket. A framed commemorative certificate and gold rosette were presented to managing director Steve Skinner by CAMRA chair Paula Waters. Mr Skinner said he and all his colleagues were “fantastically honoured” to have their best-selling beer win such prestigious recognition.
The lunch was attended by around 250 representatives and guests of breweries from all over Britain, along with top beer writers and experts. It was served with a selection of this year’s award-winning beers, including Betty Stogs accompanying the main course. The programme also included a tour of the iconic cricket ground.
The Earl’s Court festival was a double triumph for Skinners, whose Cornish Knocker Ale won bronze in the Golden Ale category. This and Betty Stogs had been competing against thousands of other beers from up and down the country.
“Now it’s time for the hard bit - doing as well again next year!” said Mr Skinner. “We have succeeded through rigidly adhering to our policy of brewing the best beer with the best quality raw materials, including Cornish barley, and that’s the way it will continue to be in 2009.” |

Figgy's Brew.
Madgy Figgy, a wrecker, was one of the best known of the St. Levan and Burian witches. On the dramatic coastline at Land’s End, at a place known as Tol-Peden-Penwith, there can be found a pile of granite stones which became known as Madgy Figgy’s Chair.
It was from this precarious seat that she would cast her wicked spells to whip up tremendous storms and then, using the light of her lantern, she would lure ships on to the rocks and sailors to their death.
Once the ships were wrecked Figgy and her cronies would loot the bounties from the ships and she was often to be seen dressed in fine clothes and jewels. Apparently, during storms, a light can still be seen on Madgy Figgy’s Chair!!!! |

Press Gang.
The new still, medium cider is 4.8% ABV and is described as light and refreshing with the delicate aroma of ripe apples.
It is served through a hand pump from 20-litre "bag in the box" containers, allowing an eight-week use-by period after opening, and strengthens already strong links between Skinner's and Cornish Orchards.
It is the latest in a growing range offered by Skinner's, who launched their own lager in 2005 and last year celebrated their tenth anniversary. Cornish Orchards began their cider-making activity in 1999 as a diversification of Westnorth Manor Farm, part of the Duloe Manor estate owned and stewarded by the Duchy of Cornwall.
"We already sell all Cornish Orchards' products in our shop and we see enormous potential for the new cider, which is a little less strong than the more conventional product," said Skinner's managing director Steve Skinner.
Cornish Orchards managing director Andy Atkinson welcomed the new opportunity to "put the taste of nature back into a glass of honest cider." He added: "We are dedicated to keeping alive the more traditional processes and standards. In so many cases, the taste of cider has lost its direction in the journey from a farm-produced natural drink to an industrialized carbonated replica." |

Tribute.
A Supreme Champion Ale of Cornwall as
voted by CAMRA*, Tribute is a popular
favourite with locals and visitors to Cornwall, as well as being a much sought after guest ale throughout the rest of the UK. It is brewed using specially grown Cornish Gold Malt and is a perfect accompaniment to chicken, gammon or fish. The ideal alternative to a fine white wine.
Roger Protz, Editor Good Beer Guide, recently reviewed Tribute. "Tribute is a magnificent example of a bronze coloured English bitter, with a rich aroma of biscuity malt and tart citrus fruit from the Willamette hops. Juicy malt, hop resins and tangy fruit coat the tongue, while the finish is long and lingering, with a fine balance between malt, hops and fruit, finally becoming dry and bitter"
